NAMER in Irish-medium schools

In 2010, NAMER was conducted in a representative sample of Irish-medium schools. Comparisons were drawn between the performance of pupils in schools in general (based on NAMER 2009) and in Gaeltacht schools and Gaelscoileanna. A summary report on the National Assessments in Irish-Medium Schools (NAIMS) was published in English and Gaeilge in 2011, and a main report, also in English and Gaeilge, was published in 2012.

NAER & NAMA 2004

In 2004, a National Assessment of English Reading (NAER) and a National Assessment of Mathematics Achievement (NAMA) were implemented in parallel.  For NAER, over 4000 First and Fifth Class pupils completed a test of English Reading based on the revised Primary School English Curriculum. For NAMA, over 4000 Fourth Class pupils completed a test of Mathematics based on the revised Primary School Mathematics Curriculum. Contextual data were obtained in questionnaires completed by pupils, parents, class and learning-support teachers, principals and members of the Inspectorate.
