Caitríona joined the ERC in April 2019. She is currently working on the evaluation of DEIS (Delivering Equality of ‎Opportunity in Schools). Caitríona recently worked as a co-researcher on a project (Doodle Families) relating to parental perceptions of childhood literacy (Childhood Development Initiative, Tallaght). She has also lectured final year undergraduate students for the Department of Sociology, Maynooth University. Caitríona holds a B.Soc.Sci in Social Science and Social Policy. In 2016, she was awarded The John and Pat Hume Scholarship to complete a Ph.D. in Sociology, Maynooth University. Her doctoral thesis ‘Reimagining primary school children’s citizenship participation’ offers a qualitative exploration of primary school children’s understandings and experiences of citizenship and democratic participation. Caitríona’s other research interests include: citizenship education, gender and education, children’s peer cultures, educational disadvantage, children and youth wellbeing, childhood literacy, and research methodologies.
