Aidan is a Research Fellow. Since joining the ERC in 2007, his work has included large-scale national and international assessments of student achievement at primary level, including TIMSS, PIRLS, and National Assessments, as well as study of social and personal development and student participation in Transition Year at post-primary level. He is the National Research Coordinator for TIMSS 2015 and TIMSS 2019 (Fourth class) in Ireland. His research interests include student engagement and wellbeing, socioemotional development in childhood and adolescence, factors supporting learning in the classroom, and the promotion of positive development among young people. He has a BSc (Psychology) from Queen’s University Belfast, and a PhD (Education) from Dublin City University.
