Triail Ghaeilge Dhroim Conrach do Scoileanna Rialta (TGD-R)

Tá leagan Béarla den téacs seo ar fáil ag bun an leathanaigh.

Is triail chaighdeánach ar ghnóthachtáil sa Ghaeilge í TGD-R ar féidir í a riar ar ghrúpaí. Is ionann ‘Scoileanna Rialta’ i gcomhthéacs na dtrialacha seo agus ‎bunscoileanna ina ndéantar an Ghaeilge a mhúineadh mar ábhar, seachas an Ghaeilge a bheith ‎mar ghnátheanga cumarsáide agus teagaisc iontu. Tá trialacha ar leith ar fáil do na scoileanna ‎Gaeltachta agus lán-Ghaeilge (TGD-G), agus dá bhrí sin baineann na noirm sa triail seo (TGD-R) le ‎scoileanna rialta amháin. ‎ Tá ábhar na trialach bunaithe ar Churaclam na ‎Bunscoile – Gaeilge (1999).

Triail nua í seo. Rinneadh í a chaighdeánú in mBealtaine 2010. Thart ar 10,000 dalta i scoileanna a mhúineann trí mhéain an Bhearla a ghlac páirt.  Trí leibhéal atá sa triail TGD-R agus iad seo ag freastal ar dhaltaí ó Rang a Dó go dtí Rang a Sé. ‎Tá dhá fhoirm ar fáil don triail ag gach leibhéal. Léirítear sa tábla leibhéil na trialach ‎a oireann do na rang leibhéil seo.

Cuirtear scóir chaighdeánacha, scoir sten, agus  scóir pheircintíle ar fail, ní amháin do dhá scála iomlán (Léitheoireacht, Éisteacht) agus do dhá fho-scála (Léamh Foclóir agus Léámh Tuiscint). Tógann sé idir 90 noiméad (Leibhéal 1) agus dhá uair a chloig (Leibhéal 3) chun an triail a riar.

Go luath i 2012, beidh úsáideoirí na trialach in ann clár ríomhaire scórála a cheannach. Tabharfaidh an clár seo tachaíocht le scórál na trialach agus déanfar tuairiscí a sholáthar go leictreonach.

Nóta: Scoileanna a bhain úsáid as Drumcondra Irish Test go dtí seo, moltar dóibh TGD-R nó TGD-G a úsáid – pé ceann acu a oireann.

The TGD-R is a set of standardised tests of achievement ‎in Irish, developed specifically for group administration in English-medium primary schools – schools ‎in which Irish is taught as a subject, and is not the main language of ‎instruction.  The norms of the TGD-R are tailored to ordinary schools, while the TGD-G is tailored to Gaeltacht schools and scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge.

The content of the TGD-R is based on the ‎Primary School Curriculum – Irish (1999).  It is a new test, and was standardised on a nationally representative sample of almost 10,000 pupils in Ordinary schools in May 2010. There are three Levels, each with parallel forms, in the TGD-R.  The different Levels are suitable for pupils in Second to Sixth class.

Scale scores, percentile ranks and sten scores are provided not only for the overall test, but also for two subscales – Reading Vocabulary (Léamh-Foclóir), Reading Comprehension (Léamh-Tuiscint) – and a separate Listening test (Éisteacht).  Total testing time, including instructions, ranges from 90 minutes for Level 1 to 2 hours for Level 3. Test users will shortly be able to purchase a computerised scoring programme. The programme will facilitate scoring and enable automatic generation of reports.

NOTE: Schools that previously used the Drumcondra Irish Test (1970s) are advised to replace it with the TGD-R or TGD-G, as appropriate.
